3ย  Ideas from me.

Launching something new is scary. My first launching came at the age of seven, when my family moved to Miami, Florida, from the tiny island of Jamaica. After our first child, my husband and I moved to San Diego. We moved again to Rochester, NY, and back to San Diego for a total of THREE cross-country moves!ย  Those were BIG life-changing launches.ย  We often felt overwhelmed and exhausted, but we were mostly confident that God was in each new beginning.

Wherever you’re casting your net today, God is with you in all the details.ย

II.

God cares about the things we care about. (Matthew 6:26, Luke 12:7)
“Since you are so much more precious to God than a thousand flocks of sparrows, and since God knows you in every detailโ€”down to the number of hairs on your head at this momentโ€”you can be secure and unafraid of any person, and you have nothing to fear from God either.” Don’t rush the process. Trust your process. Only move when he says move.
Don’t hesitate to celebrate the victories.

III.ย

If you have ever seen the classic movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers, you may remember the part where the aliens recognize the human among them. The aliens slowly turn to point to the human right before the chase begins. That’s how I would describe imposter syndrome. For many years, I struggled with inadequacy and feelings of insecurity.ย  I never felt good enough; if I hung around long enough, I would be found out.

Speaking up in meetings became a panic-inducing event. My brain would flip into fight or flight mode. But I wanted more flight than to fight. ย  Eventually, I went to therapy to discover the root cause of the panic attacks. But, part of my healing process was believing I am a celebrated and cherished child of God(Isaiah 42:1). That feeling of being an imposter is removed in the light of his Grace.ย  Oh yeah, do I believe I am different?ย  Yea. I am. But aren’t we all unique in what we bring to the table?ย

Walk worthy of love and respect. That Divine love of God restores and heals.

ย Autistic artist, poet, and musician Morgan Harper Nicols is a favorite of mine. She writesย  about staying on the right track in the middle of difficulty:

“The road that takes you far may bend and break you. But it makes you who you are.”
