“𝚈𝚘𝚞 𝚍𝚒𝚍 𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚋𝚎𝚜𝚝. 𝚈𝚘𝚞 𝚐𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚒𝚝 𝚊 𝚜𝚑𝚘𝚝.”

These simple words carried us as we dropped our sons for college on the East coast.

Recently our youngest went back to grad school. As grown as he is, saying “see you later” is still so hard to do.🥲

My neighbor has a sweet little baby about a year and a half. He reminds me so much of our boys -with his sweet little afro. 🥰

I remembered those days with a toddler. They were physically so HARD. But your little ♥️’s are with you. We could snatch up those little rascals and hug ‘em up! We could protect them. We could keep them close. That, felt so good.

Then they go off to college or on off their own and everything changes.

There are many times in this process, that @kevinmcpeak and I had to pray and release. Go back and pray and release again and again. Sometimes you release, while you’re crying your eyes out. 😭

Here is some wisdom we cling as we release:

1. God loves them more than we do. He is with them. (Thanks @ahands89 for this wisdom)
wherever they go(Joshua 1:9)
2. The Lord will provide. (He’s got the whole world)(Genesis 22:14)
3. You did your best. You gave it a shot. (no scripture if you know of one add in comment)

He is certainly with them. He promised to never let them go.

For the parents “letting go” or trying to. Remember, sometimes they come back. #boomerang As they move, they’re one step closer to paying their own way. That’s some good good news. 👏🏽

New things can be both exciting and scary. But we go scared; our freedom is often on the other side of our fear.

I wish someone had told me that as I pursue my passion to lead worship and follow Jesus, my deepest insecurities would be revealed. I want to help leaders in the spotlight, embrace the Grace, walk in humility, heads held high.

It’s the reason I need to stay connected to my Source. It’s the reason I created 𝟱 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗱𝗮𝘆; to do the job, we need the right tools.

New day. New mercies. 💫

In all the hustling of living, I can drift away from
connecting my soul to the One who calls
me to a deeper love; Every day there are hidden moments to connect with Creator God. Raise your hand if you could use more of this🙋🏾‍♀️

I’ll tell you what. I get it. I really really do.

God shows up each day and waits for us to fill our soul with the light of his gracious Love. Sometimes it’s just hard to find moments. But our soul needs it.
I need it. 🙏🏾

I wrote out some ways I connect in worship when there isn’t enough time to have a deep dive with Jesus. I find such peace when I catch God’s perspective of the dailies.

I wish someone had told me it’s good to take a rest.

When I started working as a Worship Leader, I was pressing hard—trying to manage it all. I had two small kids and a growing team of awesome volunteers. I was exhausted. I wanted to help everyone and do everything.

No one told me that it was ok to rest sometimes, without guilt. But I’m learning.

Rest is resistance.

But, I get it. Sometimes that rest is 10-15 minutes with the phone off, just looking at the sky and giving God praise being with you. Sometimes that’s all you need. Sometimes that’s the rest. Just a little time to have a little talk with Jesus. 🙏🏾

So while thinking about you, I created something to give you a few easy steps to connect with the One who wants to give you the strength to do all you gotta do.

And many hairstyles later, @kevinmcpeak and l mark nineteen years on staff together @eastlakechurchcv 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️

We are OG’s. 🫰🏾

I don’t like to give numbers away 😜 buuut…this anniversary seemed like such a reason to celebrate.

I remember the Sunday morning Kevin, myself and baby @xammcpeak walked in the small church that met in Eastlake High auditorium. We knew immediately we were home; we began volunteering in worship and helping with set up and tear down. Not long after the new church was built. 💒We added @natemcpeak to the fam and promptly moved away😭😭

But we came baacck! 🙌🏽🙌🏽
to San Diego to be on staff. We learned so much about who we are as a couple and as colleagues. we’ve also learned that God is faithful and that if you really choose love, you win. Here are some other learnings:

1. 𝘉𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 - ᴘᴇʀꜱᴏɴᴀʟ & ᴘʀᴏꜰᴇꜱꜱɪᴏɴᴀʟ ʀᴇᴀʟʟʏ ꜱᴀᴠᴇᴅ ᴜꜱ ᴍᴀɴʏ ᴍᴀɴʏ ᴛɪᴍᴇꜱ. 🙏🏾
2. 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵.

Try something new. You may discover you’re braver than you thought.

Leaders can take well orchestrated risks. There are no guarantees. That’s okay too.

We knew this song was a good one. But could it fit for our church🤷🏽‍♀️ Not all songs work for all churches. We weighed the risks and decided to go for it!!

It makes it easy when you have a great team! 🙌🏽

Thinking of mom today🤍

It was my sweet mama who pushed me to take piano lessons at the age of twelve. I can still hear her sweet singing voice singing🥰
This was the song @kaekae_janae sang in service the day after I got the news of my mom’s sudden passing. I was so grateful we got to talk and laugh the night before.😭
Watching online that morning, I stood up and worshipped. I cried and I worshipped. Arms wide open—-it was all I could do. It’s all any of us can do when our hearts are broken.

When I sit to play the piano 🎹, or rehearse the team for services, mom is there with me. Everything she poured into me, is there with me💛
So much of what I share as a leader begins at this piano.

Parents keep watch. Observe what your babies are good at. Leaders be ready. There’s a soul waiting for you to encourage and create space for. There’s someone who needs to know you believe in them. 🙏🏾

Happy Father’s Day to Dad, coach, chief cook, Costco shopper, our favorite problem-solver , the one who is thinking about dinner when no one else is, making sure the door is locked, the stove is off and finding the cheapest gas in CV.

Now…if I can remember to put the keys back in the bowl, it would be the best Father’s Day gift of all. 😂
